While Cox is one of the more obscure 20^th century major party presidential nominees he did have the distinction of having Franklin D. Roosevelt as he vice presidential running mate. For a campaign slogan in 1920, Cox would use "Peace. Progress. Prosperity." Roosevelt would later go on to be elected president in 1932. Cox lost the 1920 November election to Warren Harding.
