Herbert Hoover
campaign buttons. Campaign Buttons-Etc.Com presents 1928 and 1932
republican nominee President Herbert C. Hoover. A little known fact is
that in 1929 Hoover was the first president to have a
telephone installed
on his
desk. Telephones were initially installed in the White House
in 1878 during the term of Rutherford B. Hayes, but there was never an
extension on a presidential desk until Hoover. Unlike Thomas Jefferson,
unfortunately Hoover never used a
standing desk which may have helped him increase his focus and
better deal with the economic crisis.
