February 24, 2024 - President Joe Biden holds a slight lead over former President Donald Trump  in a new nationwide poll of registered voters released this week. Biden has the support of 49% of those polled followed by Trump with 45%.

Each candidate has the solid support of their respective parties. Biden has the backing of 93% of Democrats with 4% opposed. Trump has the support of 91% of Republicans with 7% opposed. Independent voters are about evenly divided between the two candidates. 44% for Biden with 42% for Trump.

When potential independent party candidates are added , Biden has a 1% lead. Biden scores 38% followed by Trump with 37%. Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has a solid 15% with Cornel West at 3% and Green Party candidate Jill Stein also at 3%.
