John McCain Biography
★ August 29, 1936 John McCain is born at Coco Solo Naval Air
Station in the Panama Canal Zone. ★
★ 1954 McCain enters U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis. ★
★ 1958 McCain graduates from U.S. Naval Academy. ★
★ July 3, 1965 McCain marries Carol Shepp. ★
★ July 29, 1967 McCain is almost killed aboard the aircraft
carrier USS Forrestal during a raging fire that takes the lives of
134 fellow crewmen. ★
★ October 26,1967 McCain is shot down while flying a bombing
mission over North Vietnam. McCain will spend nearly five and a half
years as a prisoner of war. ★
